Atlanta Named No. 1 City to Start a Career

It is an exciting time in the city, as Atlanta was just named the number one place to start a career in America, again! With an estimated 4.9 million jobs, the city's expanding professional landscape, influx of new businesses and declining unemployment rates make Atlanta an ideal environment for professional growth. For recent graduates seeking the perfect place to kick-start their careers, Atlanta stands out with its competitive starting salaries and abundant entry-level positions.

According to a study conducted by WalletHub, Atlanta ranked first overall out of 182 U.S. cities for career opportunities. They analyzed 26 key metrics such as availability of entry-level jobs, quality of life and annual job growth rate. WalletHub reported that “Atlanta is the best place to start a career, boasting one of the highest growth rates in the median household income, at around 8.9% annually. The median annual household income in Atlanta is already pretty high as well, at nearly $79,000.”

In the past year alone, the Peach State has added over 70,000 jobs, particularly in the finance, health, and hospitality sectors. Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson remarked, “There are now more opportunities than ever to launch Georgians into high-demand careers that meet industry needs head-on. While the future remains unclear, all signs are pointing toward Georgia as a perennial leader in job growth and economic opportunity for all.”

The study concluded that Atlanta not only has plenty of career opportunities but also boasts high job satisfaction rates and an excellent quality of life. Atlanta ranked fourth overall for most fun cities, highlighting its vibrant and engaging atmosphere. WalletHub also named Atlanta the sixth-best city to start a new business in, making it an enticing place for entrepreneurs and new business ventures.

Whether you are an Atlanta native or considering a move to the city, Atlanta has much to offer job seekers. TWT has been delighted to witness the city's growth and eagerly anticipates its continued development. The future looks bright for professionals in Atlanta, making it an exciting place to build a career.
